The Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College recently announced its new online Master of Science in Nursing program, to begin in fall 2021.

Fisher Nursing Online will allow for nursing students to choose from a variety of specializations that can be completed at a full- or part-time pace, allowing for students to work while completing their degree.

According to a release, the program will blend clinical and academic coursework to give professional nurses the proper experience necessary to accelerate in their field of work. The online program focuses on advanced practices to transition from being a registered nurse to a nurse practitioner.

Fisher Nursing Online has been in the works for a few years as The Wegmans School of Nursing wanted to maintain the same structure and rigor as the in-person program. The online content and course expectations are the same as the in-person Masters in Nursing program.

“It’s been a couple of years of exploring different opportunities to expand our reach and to be able to bring our cutting edge curriculum… and to expand our programming.” The Chair of Graduate Nursing Dr. Donegan said.

“I think it’s important that the School of Nursing is expanding their graduate options because nursing is a medical field that is always expanding,” said nursing major Brenna Seavey. “If you already go here for undergraduate nursing it gives you an easy opportunity to see that you can continue your education.”

Classes will take place in the evenings to accommodate full-time workers and different time zones. Fisher’s School of Nursing has the goal of becoming the premier nursing program in the region, and then in the nation.

More information about the program can be found here.
