Fisher Athletics started off this week with the Fisher Field Hockey Breast Cancer Awareness Game against the University of Rochester. The Cardinals took an early lead in the game with a goal made by freshman Mary Kate McPhee, her fourth of the season. Despite the six saves made by goalie Sophia Trozzi, the Yellowjackets would go on to score three unanswered goals. This was the field hockey team’s first loss in nearly a month.

Womens’ soccer turned the loss around with a 1-0 victory over the Sage Gators, which put the Cardinals ahead of the Gators in the Empire 8 standings. The lone goal was made early in the game by junior Kate Rachwal, her second of the season, with an assist by junior Emma Spelman. Goalie Avery Byrnes saved both shots she faced for her fourth clean game of the season.

Mens’ soccer followed the women’s game with their annual Senior Day game. Fisher tied Hartwick with a score of 0-0. Senior Jadon Schlierf had a save in goal for his fourth shutout game of the season. This draw extended Fisher’s undefeated streak to six games, keeping them undefeated in Empire 8.

Womens’ volleyball shut out SUNY Morrisville with a 3-0 win, bringing the team’s win streak up to 10 games. Two days later, Fisher continues their streak with a 3-0 sweep against Houghton, bringing their record to 15-8 and 6-0 in the Empire 8 conference.

This week was brought to a close during Family Weekend. Fisher Football opened the weekend against no. 17 nationally ranked SUNY Cortland. Despite a 44-yard touchdown run for Peyton Nolan, the Cardinals were not able to hold on. Cortland pulled away, taking advantage of the Cardinals’ mistakes, leading to a Cardinal loss of 42-14.

Just an hour later, Fisher Field Hockey faced off against Hartwick to take first place in the Empire 8 after winning 2-1. Fisher’s first goal was made by freshman Mary Kate McPhee, her seventh of the season, with an assist from junior Emma Cooper. Sam Choate, who was being celebrated for senior day, scored the second goal with an assist from junior Selena Emery.

Family Weekend was brought to a close with Womens’ Soccer where Fisher defeated Houghton 5-0. Graduate student Jen Kirker stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, the first this season. Kirker scored in the 15th, 30th, and 50th minute, bringing her season total to six. Junior Riley Grimm scored the other two goals for Fisher and assisted Kirker in her third goal. The Cardinals remain undefeated in the Empire 8, holding a tie for first with Nazareth University at 15 points.
