Poetry Corner 12/14

Graphic created by Lejla Zornic (Lejla Zornic)

Goodnight Cupid

I woke up,

Fixed the flowers by my bed,

Checked that the honey was still there,

And opened the door once more.

In the afternoon,

I wrote love letters to the wind,

And placed them in my mailbox,

I sprayed perfume and left a kiss.

Tonight,

I cooked a dinner for two,

And got the best wine,

I used my prettiest dress

And waited.

I waited till the candles burned out.

Cupid never came.

But I didn’t panic,

I saved dinner, and the candles,

And even the dress.

I got myself ready for bed,

And whispered the moon my sweetest goodnight.

Tomorrow will be another day.

– eve
