Fisher Athletics started big this week with Courage Bowl weekend. Fisher Field Hockey started strong with a 12-0 win against Roberts Wesleyan, a record-breaking win for Fisher Field Hockey. The Cardinals began this historic win with a 4-0 lead at halftime before going on to score eight more goals in the third quarter.

Womens’ soccer continued this win streak with a 1-0 game against Elmira College. Junior midfielder Emma Spelman scored the sole goal.

Courage Bowl weekend came to a close with an 18-35 loss against SUNY Brockport in the XVIII Courage Bowl game. The Fisher Cardinals were able to keep a close game with the Brockport Eagles, ending the first quarter 7-6. However, Fisher could not keep up as Brockport fought to bring the trophy home for the sixth year in a row.

Fisher Athletics quickly turned the loss around with a 3-2 win from womens’ volleyball against Buffalo State on Oct. 6. The Cardinals were fighting hard for this win after finding themselves down 1-2. In an exciting fifth set, Fisher took control of the game with kills from freshmen Kaylene Noble and Adeline Phillips. Noble contributed 22 of Fisher’s 60 kills. This is a career-high for Noble.

Fisher Field Hockey continued this win streak on Oct. 7 in a 6-1 victory against Utica, putting Fisher at 3-0 within the conference. Junior Audrey Grieb made four goals and two assists for 10 points. This is a career-high for Grieb, who now holds a tie for record points in a single game in Fisher history. Senior Sophia Trozzi contributed to this win with 11 saves, allowing a single goal in the fourth quarter.

The week was brought to a close with a 3-0 victory for Mens’ Soccer against Utica. Junior Riley Rease got the ball to the net early in the game, and later assisted fifth-year Tim Brown with the second goal of the game. The third goal was made by junior Adam Grover, his first goal as a Cardinal.
